The Story

Monofilament or nylon fishing line is constructed by heating a mixture of polymers to fluid and then extruded through tiny holes to form strands of fishing line. The size of the hole used dictates the diameter of the line and hence contributes to the line's breaking strain. The strands of line are cooled until they set and they are wound onto spools. The different mix of chemicals used in constructing monofilament line dictates the characteristics of the line.
